Operation Encompass
Woodfield is part of Operation Encompass which is an initiative run by Devon and Cornwall Police service. Operation Encompass is an early intervention safeguarding partnership which supports children and young people exposed to domestic abuse.
This means that schools are informed before the start of the next school day when a child or young person has been involved or exposed to a domestic abuse incident.
The information is given in strict confidence to a school’s Designated Safeguarding Lead to enable support to be given dependent on the needs and wishes of the child. Operation Encompass is a Trauma Informed and Trauma Sensitive charity. We acknowledge and understand the impact of Domestic Abuse as an Adverse Childhood Experience.

eSafety
At Woodfield Primary School, we strive to improve children's understanding of how to remain safe on the Internet and any devices, games or apps that allow them access to the Internet. In order to do this, each class has a specific e-Safety lesson every term, these lessons are progressive across the school. To ensure that the children realise the importance of keeping themselves safe they revisit the key messages in their regular Computing lessons.
Each year we join in with the national Safer Internet Day. This is held in February and all the children take part in a range of activities that are linked to the theme for the year. Also, as part of the day, we have a special assembly when children from each class share what they have learnt with the rest of the school.

Common Sense Media:
With the development of apps, games and other online services, it can be difficult to keep up with the ever-changing world of technology. Although it is vital for children to explore and learn through using the Internet, we also strive to ensure that they are safe and secure when doing so. In order to do this, we use a resource called Common Sense Media. It offers reviews, age guidance and an overview of a range of services including: apps, games, DVDs, music and social media. Alongside this, it provides advice for parents and carers on how they can keep their children safe online. Please click here for their website.
