Music

At Woodfield Primary and Nursery School, our music curriculum encourages children to immerse themselves in musical learning that engages, challenges and inspires. By fostering creativity, we aim to instil a life-long appreciation for music, where children are able to express themselves and explore and celebrate their unique talents and successes.   Using Charanga, children participate in regular skills and knowledge-based sessons, that provide an opportunity for pupils to develop their musicality, while building on previous experiences and musical knowledge.

In KS2, all children have the opportunity to learn a musical instrument through Plymouth's First Access initiative.  Pupils benefit from specialist, weekly whole class tuition where they learn how to play the Ukulele and how to read musical notation.

We embrace all opportunities for musical enrichment at our school.  We have a school choir, who enjoy performing for the community and at LAT events.  Furthermore, we encourage whole school, community singing at various points in the year.   We also work in partnership with the Plymouth Music Education Hub to enhance the experiences that are available for our pupils.
